Like loud rock music to a sleep deprived prisoner at Guantanamo, the torture debate has once again delivered a rude awakening to those Americans naïve enough to believe that our country has any moral high ground over our supposed evil enemies. The Bush administration has been playing its own version of “it depends on what your definition of ‘Is’ is” for several years - only their game of semantics is about torturing defenseless prisoners and not a blowjob. Apparently, the commander-in-chief also has the power to change the definition of our words to fit his own misunderstandings of them.

I don’t like torture.
But isn’t it great that we live in a country where…ah never mind.

Thanks for blogrolling me despite my geographical misstep about where you were! The same has been done in return.
What a great, as always, post. I loved that last video from Daily Show. There is more that I would say, but as John Oliver so aptly pointed out, the words I need are serving at the pleasure of the asshat at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
This country is wrecked. Disaster. I should have stayed in Spain.

I cannot recall feelilng more despair for our country than I do now. “I dont have a good feeling about this..”

You know, There was a time when soldiers coming home from war suffered from Shellshock.
No one suffered from Shellshock after World War II, however. No, they suffered from Battle Fatigue.
And after Vietnam, Battle Fatigue was all but unheard of. Instead, returning vets dealt with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for much of their remaining lives.
And now, finally, after Iraq Wars 1 and 2, soldiers now only suffer from PTSD.
Isn’t it wonderful how by simply changing the words we use we can completely fix any problem?
Now where’s my lapel pin?
