This interview between Colbert and Garry Kasparov comes to you by special request from fellow TLM reader Vay Nadarajah. Kasparov is a former World Chess Master and leftist running for the Russian presidency in 2008. He remarks that Russian politics are very different from chess in that there are no rules. Of course, there are rules, but they are entirely up to the discretion of the tyrants at the top who make the game. Despots the world over have no incentive to play a fair game. Still, a rigged game should not discourage people from trying to beat it.
