Turkish Troops began shelling the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in Northern Iraq this morning. It is believed Turkish Aircraft and special forces units have mounted raids. Iraq has closed offices of the PKK throughout the country due to American and British pressure. A PKK rebel ambush near the border killed 12 Turkish soldiers over the weekend, and eight more troops have been missing since the attack. Turkey is demanding that the PKK leadership be arrested and handed over to Turkey, and that its logistical networked be destroyed. London and Washington are hoping to avert crisis in the area.
