(deadissue) This is one of my own creations, cliped out of what I consider to be far and away the best episode of Real Time w/ Bill Maher this season. Rahm Emanuel was also scheduled, but he didn’t show up. What a blessing! The result was honest, brilliant, alive and often hilarious. The video is all of the panel discussion, without any of the interviews or Bill’s solo segments at the beginning or end. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for posting this. I had posted this entire episode on YouTube because I too thought it was brilliant. Unfortunately, the videos were pulled and my account got deleted. Google video seems to be much safer though for some reason.

  2. I think making your videos public will be what eventually leads to getting in trouble. I keep all of mine private, and then just post them around myself.

  3. This was a great episode indeed. Thanks for the reminder!

  4. Thanks to both deadissue and manila ryce for this wonderful video. Loved it the first time, bookmarked it in, like, 12 places. Happy to do it again for this targeted video of Mos Def and Dr. West.

Mos Def is so articulate, expressing so many ideas of my own, but we’ve never met and this is the first I remember seeing Mos Def in conversation. This conversation helps me feel less alone, less like what my friends call me, conspiracy nut. I know I’m not. I know there are major questions going unanswered, but, you know…

Doctor West is also wonderful here, helping to refine Mos Def’s impatient, why do I have to explain this to you, statements of belief.

Mos Def is right about almost everything (hey, my mother-in-law never believed the moon landing either), but, you know, we do have to explain, and explain, and explain, patiently, trusting the seeds are sown, while the ideas grow in the minds of others until, amazingly, they become the ideas of those in whom the seeds were first sown. We get no credit, but, hey, is that really important?

  5. This was my favorite episode as well. Thanks for posting.

  6. BTW, you should add the Overtime segment too. Some great discussion there too.

  7. Mos Def is somewhat delusional in his thinking as I don’t buy the 911 conspiracies nor do I believe that the Koran is a “peace preaching” piece of literature. The interpretation of Islam is a problem as is the interpretation of just about all religions. People then use their interpretation to devise internecine plans which only harm the emotional and psychological development of the human race.
