The right-wing American and Israeli administrations are similar in many ways. For example, if someone presents facts that they don’t like, leaders of both countries will work to replace that person with someone who will say what they want them to say. Such is the case with the head of the IAEA, Mohamed ElBaradei, who has honestly stated that there is no evidence suggesting that Iran intends to build nuclear weapons. Because this fact invalidates Israel’s rationale for a war with Iran, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz called Thursday for Mohamed ElBaradei to be removed from office.

“The policies followed by ElBaradei endanger world peace. His irresponsible attitude of sticking his head in the sand over Iran’s nuclear program should lead to his impeachment,” Mofaz ironically stated on public radio from Washington. Despite the fact that Israel has hundreds of undeclared nuclear warheads and is not a signatory to the NPT, Mofaz spewed his country’s official line that the world’s primary concern should be a nuclear Iran. He clamored on, “ElBaradei says he has no proof regarding Iran’s nuclear program when he has intelligence reports gathered by several countries and he heads an organization responsible precisely for that.”

One Response to “Israel Says Head of IAEA Should be Fired”

  1. Israel so often reminds me of a school yard bully… short in stature but loud in volume.

What is to not understand about Mutually Assured Destruction?

And honestly, after the Lebanon war cluster fuck from last year you would think they might realize that old style things don’t work in the new world.

    Oh silly, silly idealistic me.

And of course the Bush-like truth denying is brought to new and dizzying heights here.

If we don’t like what he says- FIRE him!!
