This song came out when I was about 13. Back before the days of TiVo or internet video, you had to catch MTV at a certain time if you wanted to see a certain video. Still, there were no guarantees. All you knew was that Bill Bellamy was known to play hip-hop (of course), Kennedy was known to play alternative rock, and Eric Nies was known to shove his crotch in the camera without the authoritarian restraints of a shirt blocking his aerobic mojo. Sadly, the internet has destroyed the role of the VJ and the brilliant commentary they use to provide.
Here’s the description from the source:
An excellent music video that aired briefly on MTV in 1994 and soon became largely forgotten. This one was filmed in B&W to produce an old-timey ambience that works very well with the ragtime sound. Pay close attention to the continuity. The whole video was filmed with a steadycam, in one continuous shot…an unbelievably difficult task that only someone like Michel Gondry could pull off. This catchy vid is no longer in production and a rare treat to find, wherever it happens to bubble up ;-)

I totally remember this song. I did the same thing with trying to catch it on TV because both the song and the video were amazing and still are today.

I had no idea that Michel Gondry directed this video. Is there anything that crazy Frenchman can’t do?

speaking as someone who has done a few rather low budget videos .. i can safely say that that is one cool clip …some good Gondry stuff in torrent land
