Children love Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Gravel not just because he knows who’s been naughty and nice, but because he doesn’t keep any of it a secret. Hopefully the children are able to keep a secret though cuz Mike doesn’t seem like the kind of person who should be allowed to have kids sit in his lap.

This video is perhaps the best piece of evidence supporting the theory that Mike Gravel is completely out of his mind, yet it’s simultaneously the number one reason why I would vote for him.

  1. I loved this video! Mike Gravel at this point doesn’t have to be so calculating and can just have some fun with it. I would MUCH rather watch something crazy like this than the ads the top people are putting out.. This video was hilarious and refreshing.

  2. Agreed. I love the fact that as he strangles Dunlap for no apparent reason he ironically yells, “you’re out of your mind” and laughs in genuine enjoyment. Brilliant.

  3. Right before he disappears at the end, when he’s yelling goodbye and his voice cracks and he inexplicably puts his finger on his nose…what is that about? It was amazing! I loved this video, and I love that presidential candidates, however marginalized, can do this kind of stuff in the YouTube age. I think/hope we will see Gravel’s “ads” as visionary sometime in the future, when people realize that taking ourselves so seriously is part of what is allowing our world to be so f-ed up. After all, it’s the “serious” candidates like Clinton and Giuliani who don’t appear uncomfortable in the least with the idea that America should pursue a foreign policy that relies, in large part, on killing people. When in reality any policy based on killing people is not only short-sighted, but literally insane — and if you just change the faceless brown foreign people to white Americans, everyone would recognize it as insane.

So if it takes an old man dressing up in a Santa suit to snap people out of some of the self-destructive and anachronistic reverence that we have for politicians, I’m all for it.
