I have to admit, when Dennis told his Iowa supporters to vote Obama as their second choice, I was a bit upset. Still, lets try to distance ourselves away from the spin and analyze things in their context. Such a maneuver by Dennis may keep Hillary out of the lead as the “inevitable” candidate and keep Edwards back just enough for Kucinich to catch up to third place in New Hampshire. It’s a risky strategy, since no one really knows what’s going to happen, but the campaign is focused entirely on NH now since the Iowa game was rigged from the start. Dennis is NOT endorsing Obama. This is one state with an undemocratic process the underdogs gave up on long ago. Fuck Iowa (no offense to people from Iowa). Dennis still intends to give us the following address from the Oval Office, and we’re going to make it a reality.
The video below, released by the campaign, covers Dennis’ origins and includes some inspiring commentary from the man himself.

Dennis is the man, but that’s a lot of conjecture as to what his intentions are. In the 2004 election, he had an agreement with Edwards to pass over support depending on who came out as the more viable candidate, so it’s not entirely inconceivable that in the face of an overwhelmingly corporate influenced Democrat like Hillary, a pro-war hawk, a compromised power hungry puppet to lobbyists, he would back Obama as the better choice for the party.
And with the disturbing results on the Republican side, with Huckabee coming out on top it’s the difference between the ideal candidate, and the candidate that can win. I’m not saying that Kucinich can’t win, I’m saying he won’t. If he got the nomination the right would crucify him with every attack conceivable. At least with Obama, they’ve done the Muslim attacks, they can’t go after his coke use, since he’s already admitted it and going after his colour is only going to bolster the black vote.
They say that Ralph Nader’s sway over independents (and of course the election fiddling by the Republicans) lost Gore the 2000 election. While, from Nader’s point of view it was an obligation of democracy for him to run, the result has been 8 years of right-wing, religious zealots controlling the US government, and given the detrimental effect, particularly on foreign policy and America’s standing in the world, it has had, the last thing anyone wants to see is another 4 to 8 years of this shit.

I have never been so engaged and trusting in a candidate (Dennis) and also be so disappointed in a campaign. Online donations had nothing but problems (I tried to give three seperate times on their website and there was always a problem).
Sure, the system is set against Dennis. But much of the campaign management lacked. Sorry, but true.
Now Dennis is playing the game and asking people to back Obama to get more leverage against Hillary (or whatever). This country is fucked if we don’t change the process from the ground up.
It isn’t Naders’ fault we have an idiot for president, it is the idiots who voted for him that screwed us. Period. For even Nader would have been a better president than Bush. I have little doubt and I don’t like Nader, at all.
I have to ask (because I have looked) what has Dennis done that he could be crucified over. UFO’s? Ask Reagan and Carter about that. But here we have another person saying that Dennis “can’t win” and then tells us about crucifixion. Sounds to me like someone (again and it is obviously contagious, has taken the MSM’s word for something and continue to spread it as truth).
THAT is the reason Dennis won’t win. Even the Progressives are drinking the MSM’s koolaid. Turn off the TV if you know what is good for you.

Firstly, I’m not really drinking the MSM’s ‘koolaid’. Being British, I don’t know what the fuck koolaid is anyway?!
As for turning off the TV… I don’t have a TV.
Secondly, I didn’t blame Nader for the election of an idiot of a President, it is merely an effect of events involving him. And calling close to 50% of your own country idiots on the basis of how they voted probably isn’t convincing them of your arguments for the best fucking candidate for the job!
As for what Dennis could be crucified over, anything is possible with the Republican party. The UFO thing is nothing and he can shake it off easily. But the right will drag him through every single piece of dirt they can. The reason they don’t at the moment is because they’re too busy with ‘the frontrunners’.
Do you remember 2004, when they slammed Kerry for his service in Vietnam or when they went after Clinton, going for impeachment not on the basis of the job he was doing, but on the basis of the blowjobs he got?
The Republican Party, the religious right, the lobbyists and the corporations will go after him for proposing socialised health care, for sitting down with a so-called terrorist like President al-Assad, they’ll portray him as a hippy peacenik for even suggesting that foreign policy shouldn’t be ‘bomb the nation of little brown people’, they’ll go after his wife, they’ll go after everything and anything, because he doesn’t represent them.
Lastly - and it really hurts me to say this, but BuelahMan, you asked for it with the koolaid remarks and accusing me of being brainwashed by the MSM, implying no fucking skills of deduction, reason, understanding or independent thought - the reason he’ll lose, is not the ‘MSM’ or ‘the system’ being against Dennis or because of ‘Progressives drinking something called koolaid’. It comes down to this:
Because your voting public, just like mine in the UK, just like others across the globe, is full of people who couldn’t give a shit about the real details of a candidate, or about politics, or about the world, foreign affairs or anything else outside of their lives. They’re fickle, they’re weak, and if a source of news, mainstream or otherwise conveys an attack on him, there are always people who will lap it up without questioning it. It’s their weakness that is the weakness of democracy. Citizens fighting for democracy and rallying around great leaders only occurs when the situation is grim. It’s reactionary behaviour, it’s human behaviour.
You don’t have a draft for the military, you haven’t been hit since 9/11, most people aren’t impacted and thus don’t even notice the wiretaps, the erosion of civil rights, the torture, the fucking gulag in Guantanamo Bay, and so the reaction of most people is limited to switching from one party to another at best. But swinging to a radical candidate - and let’s be honest, in his approach as a constitutionalist, Dennis is far more radical than the puppets standing around him - is a reaction that people are not likely to make.
Even Manila posted a link to The Onion News Network - Bullshit is the most important issues to voters in 2008.
I’d love to see him pull a seabiscuit, I’d love to see a sign of hope… but it’s up to millions of voters, millions of people who aren’t necessarily idealists, who aren’t necessarily educated in politics and their own constitution, some who are blind to the best interests of their own country, and especially blind to what effect the leader of the free world should have, and even some who are blind to their own personal interests.
