I didn’t know him, but I once met Heath while working as an art store cashier in Hollywood. He seemed very shy and didn’t make much eye contact. Much different from his roles at the time as a cocky teenage heartthrob. It’s ashame that he’s passed away so soon, just as he was coming into his own as an actor. I wrote the following in July of 2006 when I found out Ledger was playing The Joker in the upcoming Batman film: “…following up Jack Nicholson’s portrayal may be a death sentence.” Damn, I didn’t mean it literally.

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment in Manhattan, according to the New York City police. Signs pointed to a suicide or an accidental overdose, police sources said. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., according to the police, a masseuse arrived the fourth-floor apartment of the building, at 421 Broome Street, between Crosby and Lafayette Streets in SoHo, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of the bedroom Mr. Ledger was in. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with sleeping pills — both prescription medication and nonprescription — on a night table. They moved his body to the floor and attempted to revive him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.

The police said they did not suspect foul play. Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the office of the city’s chief medical examiner, Dr. Charles S. Hirsch, said that employees of the office were at the apartment and that an autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday.

The specifics keep changing as the story develops, so check the source for the most recent update.

  1. Sad about the kid. But in this fucked up country up is down, good is bad…and evil…well, it lurks constantly in various forms….aka……..”War on Drugs”, “War on Terror”, “Global Warming”….I could go on and on…clear back to the “War on Poverty”, the civil rights movement, the women’s movement, the environmental movement, all of them, every last one, has been used to take away the individual rights and freedoms of all Americans with a ‘promise’ to give to someone else by curtailing or taking from some other ’someone’.
How stupid we all are, how selfish we all are when we look to government to ‘do’ anything with the assumption, it will not have a side effect that inhibits our freedoms…political, economical, religious and social.

I ask all of you, liberal and conservative alike….. to take a look at what government has done, once we gave [in reality they just took the right as a thief in the night] them the right to implement the income tax and create the great monster called the IRS. Read history folks. Without the right to steal our money they could do much less harm….we wouldn’t have this great fear and distrust that everyone
feels…because with all that money, the party in power can do many evil things….again depending on which side you are on at the time….not realizing that the real enemy is always in power…..ever ready to use one party or people against each by incrementally stealing the rights on an alternating basis of the competing parties and peoples…..using the money they have essentially robbed from all of us to accomplish the task. The time has come for all of us to vote for those who wish to restrict the powers of government on all levels, lest we all end up in bondage that makes Orwell’s “1984″ and Huxley’s “A Brave New World” look like picnics.

I remind you, the United States of America is now ‘bankrupt’ economically, we are living well beyond our means….by liquidating our future, just as a corporation or an individual does, as it/he/she, slides into insolvency and economic chaos. If we wait for the PTB to do something, we will not want to live where they rule….we, the people must act.

  2. I couldn’t believe this when I saw it in the morning. I thought he was an excellent actor.
