Stephen Colbert took it upon himself to interview the people that have more to do with our laws than lawmakers – they’re called lobbyists.

In the first part of “an infinite part series,” Stephen stayed on top of gay lobbyist Joe Solmonese with the Human Rights Campaign to tackle any hard issue that might have arisen during their heated conversation. Solmonese knew what he had coming, and plays hardball in this long interview straight through to the end. However, Colbert did get a firm grasp on their well-rounded discussion by uncovering why homosexuals aren’t into Huckabee, why they’re pushing so hard to insert marriage equality into the political sphere, and why they just want a fair shake from politicians (not including the ones who frequent Minneapolis airport restrooms).
