Jon Stewart and John Oliver give us a lesson in moral relativism by helping explain why waterboarding is not torture when used against our perceived enemies, yet fits the definition of torture when used against us.

So how do we justify this apparent hypocrisy for our outrageously illegal use of routine and systematic torture techniques? Well, we don’t. It’s best to just dance around it, or outright refuse to publicly answer questions regarding the technique. As Stewart says, “It’s just that fucking simple.” Now let’s stop worrying about it and get on with those executions we all love so much.

  1. First I want to thank you for uploading the videos. But I have to correct you that neither Jon Stewart nor John Oliver tried to vindicate the use of torture. It’s called sarcasm. They expose how ludicrous it is to argue for the use of torture by adopting the neocons arbitrary arguments. The second part of the video is quite revealing.

  2. @Alex
Yes, I’m quite familiar with sarcasm. In fact, if you re-read what I wrote, you’ll notice I employ it often as well. No need to correct me.
