Ayman al-Fayed, a senior member of Islamic Jihad, was killed in an extrajudicial strike when an Israeli missile destroyed his home in Bureij Palestinian refugee camp near Gaza City. Like nearly everything Israel does, the policy of extrajudicial killing is illegal under international law. At least seven other innocent Palestinians, including al-Fayed’s two children, a girl and a boy, were additionally killed in the blast.

Several other houses in the neighborhood were also badly damaged as a result of the explosion. At least 170 Gazans have been killed by Israel since November. “We will respond to this Zionist massacre painfully,” Abu Ahmed, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad, said. “We will strike the enemy everywhere.”

Despite the evidence, Israel outright denies having any involvement in the incident. “We did not undertake any operations on Friday against the Gaza Strip… We are not involved in what happened at Bureij tonight,” a military spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said.
