Another great video. The clips of Malcolm X were especially poignant, and its disturbing to realize how little has changed in forty years.
Your commentary on how the capitalist system takes a human away from his/her own pursuits and instead dehumanizes them by condemning them to a life of monotony and repetition was brilliant.

Thank you so much for making this most important video, Manila. Extremely well done. I’ve watched it 3 times already! You really spoke to how I feel about this presidential election. Until the Dem Party moves left, it will not receive my vote.

So if it looks like it would be close between Obama and McCain would you vote for Obama?
Obama leaves a lot to be desired, but is he worse or as bad as Hillary in your view?
I’m honestly not sure what I will do with my vote. I might write someone in since Kuccinich is out, but only if I’m sure that Obama will beat the Republicans (I can’t vote for Hillary).
Theres a small part of me that hopes Obama is as progressive as some people say he is and that it will come out after he is elected. Thats certainly a pattern we have seen lately. Remember W was the Uniter before he was the decider.

Sorry I should have clarified. Obama as progressive as his die-hard supporters claim he is. His policies (such as Health Care) don’t show it to me… Now, understanding how the media and corporations have manipulated the situation, could I still vote for him. Yes. If it will save the lives of my countrymen even if I have to shower afterwards. Mostly because he voted against the FISA amendments that Bush wanted even if he didn’t really support Dodd. He does have to win the general.
Also, I’m Independent. I don’t want to identify with a party but I will identify with an ideal such as Progressive or Fiscally Conservative. I wish more people weren’t tied to a party. George Washington was right about it being detrimental to the country.

Whatever means necessary…short of violence. The revolution should be televised and it is televised thanks to brilliant intellects like you.
Peace

Providing the ‘means’ peacelf ‘means’ is peaceful, and as he says ’short on violence’ [without preferably] , I ditto his notion and thank you for delivering this must see, must hear video to truly understand your purpose for posting it. And for Andy’s comments above, as well. You sure do have some poignant fans as well as your posts.
Hard to believe how nothing has really changed all that much politically in the USA since Malcolm’s demise. Except for the profound increased destruction of the people’s freedoms and human rights at home and world-wide behind the globalization of the Capitalist Empire, of course.
BTW, I suggest your fans indulge, if not already done, to view the DVD of The Motorcycle Diaries [trailer on YT] for a profound look into the where and how Ché discovered his destiny and focus which would propel his rebel activism into the history books.
Cam on Manila… Peace!

If anybody from New York is interested, there will be a conference on the assassination of Malcolm X at the Audubon ballroom o the 21st of this month. The conference wll be attended by Jared Ball, Baba Zak Kondo and Cynthia McKinney.

I’ve rewatched the video. I like the message in general, but there area few logical faults.
The united states houses 25% of the worlds prison population. Comparing Aparteid to our system via the prison population probably isn’t the best means. One because our prison population is so large, two because its misleading to assume that prison is some measure of injustice. For instance, we have a larger domestic prison population than in Iraq. It doesn’t take into account those who are indiscriminately killed and never get the chance to go to prison (probably over a million at this point).
Obama is my 3rd choice, but I think its unfair to say that he hasn’t gotten kids interested in politics. The polls prove otherwise. You can say he gotten them excited about “nothing” (emperor has no clothes). Being interested in something and being educated on it are two entirely different things. I say this because some kid will see that and dismiss your arguement outright because “He has gottent me *interested* in politics.” I would delve a little deeper so maybe some of those kids will listen to what you have to say.
The problem with revolutions is that they are bloody and they fail. They’re not all “good” either. They sound sexy and as you point out its emotionalism (revolution from love) that feeds the ferver, but history is littered with the corpses of those who have tried and failed. Sometimes with all the best intentions. This ties into your discussion of capitalism. You assign intentions to systems that have been totally corrupted by the people who’ve implemented them. Communism is just as bad as capitalism in the wrong hands. Whether the tyrants work for a corporation or a government makes little difference. The Republicans discovered this after championing the effectiveness of business and the tyranny of inept government.
Whether capitalist, socialist, or whatever economic system you prefer the main point I think you miss is that they don’t address societal ills. For capitalist, its about efficiency. If theres no “corruption”, it works well for certain sectors. Somethings government do better. This is all about economic systems and doesn’t address the quality of life of Citizens. Communism which attempts to address some social issues (put the means of production into the hands of the “people”) doesn’t always lead to utopia as history has documented. Its a subtle point, but its worth mentioning. If someone who doesn’t already agree with you hears that they connect so much more into “capitalism” than is really there just as people do with “communism”. We have preconceived notions about what these things mean that we’ve had force fed to us since we were young. You can actually be a human and a “capitalist”. “Capitalist” doesn’t describe what kind of person you are, just what kind of economic system you prefer. You can say that its easy to take advantage of workers under a capitalist system and you might be right, but its like saying cats are discriminated against at dog shows. Our government has put far too much power in the hands of corporations. Thats not a fault of capitalism per se, its a fault of our government. If our government didn’t allow people to be taken advantage of, it wouldn’t matter whether we were capitalist or communist.

Some day I’ll write a complete thought without error.
with respect to revolutions, I think its important to not that only by educating a large portion of the population can a revolution be successful and bloodless. Your idea to only vote for progressive democrats is an example of this. It only works if we can get enough people to be progressives because the rest of the Dems don’t know any better.

Of all your amazing broadcasts that I’ve seen, I think this may be your best one yet.
