Malcolm X was assassinated at the age of 39 on this day in 1965. Though he rests in peace, his fight for liberation continues on with us.

If you haven’t already, check out the video I made in honor of Malcolm here.

  1. Thank you, Manila. I wish we’d had more remembrance of him today. Your video was perfect.

  2. I am ambivalent about Malcolm X. I believe he genuinely changed towards the end of his life, but is tough to admire anyone who calls you a devil and advocates the superiority of the black race particularly when doing so would flip the dynamic and create the same problems black people faced from white people.

I admire some of the things he said, but others deeply trouble me.

  3. Check out the video of a conference on the Malcolm X assassination held on the 21st in the Audubon ballroom, http://www.regionalroundup.org/video/CYNTHIA022108audubon.mp4

The video features Green pres candidates Cynthia McKinney and Jared Ball, authors Baba Zak Kondo and John Judge and several others.
The event was organised by the Coalition on Political Assassinations, www.politicalassassinations.com
