Pepe Escobar discusses the recent crisis in Latin America involving Colombia’s invasion of Ecuador to extrajudicially kill FARC guerrillas.
Obama and Clinton are hypocrites in stating that pro-American states own the world and have the right to invade any country whenever the hell they feel like it, for whatever reason they deem important. American foreign policy is nothing short of terrorism. Of course, Hillary is the more aggressive pro-war corporate puppet, but neither Democratic candidate represents your interests if you actually give a damn about international law and democracy.

Let us not forget that Republican are big capitalists and Democrats are little capitalists.
But some Democrats are more capitalist than others and some people don’t particularly like capitalism but have to vote for the lesser of capitalists.

@Comrade Kevin
I disagree with just about everything you said.
“Let us not forget that Republican are big capitalists and Democrats are little capitalists.”
That’s like the difference between little slave owners and big slave owners. Not to mention, it’s false. Whenever Democrats go after business, they never touch the large corporations. We all know that Republicans are evil because they’re pro-business, but few realize that Democrats are pro-corporation. Both Democrats and Republicans are two factions of the business party, with Dems focusing on international capital, and Reps focusing more on domestic labor. They’re both whores to be sure, but Democrats favor the larger clients. Take NAFTA for example. That’s a Democratic trade agreement.
“…some people don’t particularly like capitalism but have to vote for the lesser of capitalists.”
Anyone who believes in free will would disagree with that statement.

I know all the peace-lovin folks here are going to hate me, but I actually agree with Columbia’s decision to invade parts of Ecuador to take out guerilla factions. I mean, I know that Hugo Chavez supported their revolution, and made Columbia kind of a safe zone for the rebels. But over the last few years, the rebels have gotten increasingly overbearing and exploitative of the residents of their safe-zones. It’s gotten to the point where rebel squads routinely invade rural towns demanding supplies and “protection money” from the Columbian residents. So even though Chavez may have agreed with the purpose and ideals of the FARC revolution, it was only a matter of time before such disrespect, dishonor and lawlessness would garner some kind of reaction. In fact, I’m surprised it took as long as it did.

Sadly, I must remind all of you that the alternative to either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton is John McCain.
Would you actually prefer a doddering old man who knows as much about the world today as he does about piloting the next space shuttle mission?
There were far better alternatives to all three candidates named here above in the races of both the Republican and Democratic parties. Through the corrupt system of private (i.e. corporate and wealthy) funding of the campaigns in the USA in combination with the so-called “mainstream” media (all owned by corporations whose agendas are certainly not based on their good effects on Americans) the fix was definitely in place. I also don’t wish in any way to minimize the fact that the Democratic Party is run by a cadre of idiots which has led to one faux pas after another.
In the final analysis, I must choose one of the Democrats over Goofus McCain and it sure as the devil won’t be Hillary Rodham Clinton in my state primary in May.

Oh, and by the way Manila Ryce, you have the situation with the Dems and the Republicans being two factions of the same corrupt business party 100% right!
It is clear that the vast majority of the approximately 535 members of the combined Houses of the US Congress are “bought-and-paid-for” whores for one corporate interest or another. If this were not so would the US be in the fiscal and societal disastrous state in which we now find ourselves?
Let’s face it. Our nation has had as its president for EIGHT YEARS a person who NEVER actually won an honest election to that office. The thief in the White House is a certifiable moron who lacks any discernable morals. We are embroiled in an endless war and occupation of Iraq that is illegal, immoral and serves only the corporate masters who are the actual government of the United States. We have seen our Congress and the Supreme Court stand by or actively assist in the destruction of our personal rights and freedom. Almost 4,000 American lives and the lives of countless Iraqis have been lost. There’s no need to remind everyone of the TRILLIONS that we have borrowed from countries like China to pay for this madness. There is no end in sight.
As I write these words the economy of the United States is falling apart while the Crawford, TX Village Idiot performs both a song and dance routine in DC. Does the phrase “…the Emperor Nero (i.e. Dubya) fiddles while America burns…” not seem to apply?
These things and others have all happened while our Congress stood there pontificating at times and whining at others as the ship of state sank ever lower. Could this have happened had we not as voters continued to return to Congress the same idiots that made this mess? Now what was that definition of insanity again? Was it something like… doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?
Need I say more in this vein? I think not.
Are all guilty of complacency, complicity, ineffectiveness or just being too lazy to do our part as citizens. I think yes.
