Egypt is expected to build a power line to supply 150 megawatts of electricity to the Gaza Strip, which has previously depended on Israel for much of its power supplies, according to an Egyptian newspaper.

The pro-government Al-Ahram newspaper said on Friday that Egypt will now become the main supplier of electricity to the territory.

“Egypt has decided to implement a project aiming to increase its provision of electricity to the Gaza Strip from 17 to 150 megawatts, in order to give relief to the Palestinians,” it said.
