Speaking with Israeli President Shimon Peres on Sunday, Vice President Cheney promised that the US would do everything in its power to counter “the Iranian threat”. Peres demanded that the US do more for Israel before the upcoming presidential elections, and added without laughing at the paranoid lunacy of his own words that “Iran’s only intentions of developing ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads are to destroy Israel and threaten the entire world.” Cheney also met with Israeli opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu who stressed that “all options must remain on the table,” and told Cheney to take action against Iran.
After taking his orders, Cheney reiterated his belief to ABC the next day that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. “Obviously, they’re … heavily involved in trying to develop nuclear weapons enrichment, the enrichment of uranium to weapons grade levels,” Cheney said in an interview. Obviously? What is obvious is that Cheney did not provide any evidence to support his accusation that Iran’s uranium enrichment program is being used for any purpose other than to produce electricity. Cheney’s insistence comes in the wake of recent IAEA reports and a report by the US intelligence community which affirmed that Tehran has no military nuclear program.
To add even more lies, spin, and misinformation to the bullshit cocktail, General David Petraeus was paraded out to lend some militaristic authority to the administration’s sales pitch. The general claimed he had evidence that Iran was behind the bombing of the Green Zone in Baghdad on Sunday, and added that “All of this in complete violation of promises made by President Ahmadinejad”. Petraeus and the administration evidently feel it’s appropriate for a military commander to speak on issues of policy. After making his inflammatory accusations, which I’m sure the war-profiteering corporate media will call into question, Petraeus managed to provide just as much evidence against Iran as Vice President Cheney had – none.
Last week it was Bush and McCain who were working overtime to justify a war with Iran. Unlike Israel and the US, which attack a different nation with every change in season, Iran has not invaded another country since the 18th century. Since threatening Iran with war is in violation of the UN Charter, all three major US presidential candidates, the entire Bush administration, General Petraeus, and the Israeli leadership are all guilty of war crimes (categorized specifically as “crimes against peace”) for merely suggesting that military action against a non-aggressive nation is a possibility. Instead of illegally conducting yet another terroristic war before the next presidential election, how about we lock all these fuckers up instead?

After the meeting, Benji and Dick sat down to a wonderful feast of fresh Arab Fetus.

Supporting and supplying weapons to Hizbollah and Hamas, thereby helping to sustain ongoing conflict and bloodshed in the Middle East.
Threatening to wipe another nation (i.e. Israel) off the face of the Earth.
- Gives a whole new meaning to “non-aggressive”.
I agree, we should all behave ourselves and stop bad-mouthing Iran, that mostly-harmless peace loving nation!

@Martastik
Hezbollah and Hamas are resistance groups defending their land against occupation. They are well within their right. Additionally, Ahmadinejad never threatened to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Show me proof of this statement and I’ll show you a false interpretation. Anything else you need help understanding?

Manilla,
I bet you would have defended Hitler, Stalin, Mao and all the other Fascists governments of the past as well.

@ Marastik
It is a fact that the truest aggressor of the Eurasian continent is Israel. This has been the case for many years. There is no argument here. Meanwhile, while the neo-cons are busy scrambling to find more WMD’s in Iran, Israel (and you can check CNN on this) is “non-disclosed” in their weapons count.
Iran sends supply lines to militant Muslim militias that — in FACT — started under the eyes of Israel. It was Sharon and his people who in fact fed these groups, starting their initial growth. This policy was conducted in the same manner that the U.S. started the Taliban and empowered Sadam in Iraq.
@ Jack
The Zionist party of Israel is a fascist party by its very dogmas, codes and behavior.
Furthermore, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, etc were not parties or countries, they were people. So before you go into foul attempts at waxing intellectual, try to be mindful before you do it. This forum has no place for fools, nor does it suffer fools lightly.

@Jack
First of all, I’m not defending Ahmadinejad by stating the facts. If you’re threatened by facts then there are plenty of gossip websites you can visit instead. Secondly, by comparing Ahmadinejad to Hitler, Stalin, and Mao, you’re destroying your own credibility before I even get a chance to attack it. Please be considerate next time.

Yazo and Manila,
You are both liberal left wind idealogs. Anything that is not Bush is good. Anyone that supports Israel is bad.
Israel is not indiscriminately bombing towns and schools, unlike hez and hamas. The Hezbola and Hamas goals state an end to Israel, not just an end to occupation. They are not freedom fighters. Freedom fighters do not send their daughters and children to commit suicide bombings.
Yes, Israel has nukes, you, I and everyone else knows it. But I have yet to see them use or even threaten to use it, have you? Now, do you suppose if Iran had nukes they wouldn’t threaten or even use nukes to rid the middle east of Israel. If your answer is no, then you are only kidding yourself and it points directly to you credability.

Yazo,
Wax this.

@Jack
Jack, I’m not interested in your personal attacks meant to muddy the issue at hand. Instead, let me introduce you to some facts.
“Israel is not indiscriminately bombing towns and schools”
Well then the high civilian death toll in Gaza must be intentional, as must the death of UN peacekeepers in Lebanon also be. The IDF has intentionally put civilians in the line of fire by reducing their safety margins policy. Their use of indiscriminate cluster munitions in heavily populated areas during the summer war with Lebanon is another example. The facts are not on your side. Israel does indiscriminately bomb according to Amnesty International and UN officials.
“The Hezbola and Hamas goals state an end to Israel, not just an end to occupation.”
They do not call for an end to Israel, but an end to the Israeli regime.
“Yes, Israel has nukes, you, I and everyone else knows it. But I have yet to see them use or even threaten to use it, have you?”
Yes, Israel has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran’s enrichment plant in Natanz with nuclear weapons, and has been training pilots for the task with or without US support. It would be the first use of a nuclear weapon fired on an enemy since World War II.
“Now, do you suppose if Iran had nukes they wouldn’t threaten or even use nukes to rid the middle east of Israel.”
Do you suppose that if hypotheticals were reality you’d have more of a case than the one you’ve presented? I’ll humor you though. You insist that if Iran had nukes they’d threaten to use them. The truth is Iran hasn’t threatened to use nukes, so logically they must not have them. If that’s the case, then there’s no legitimate reason to attack them.
