Martin Luther King was assassinated on this day in 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.

“Cowardice asks the question: is it safe? Expediency asks the question: is it political? Vanity asks the question: is it popular? But conscience asks the question: is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor political, nor popular – but one must take it simply because it is right.”

- Martin Luther King, Jr.

  1. Thanks for posting this Manila, hard to believe that the most enlightened who have lived among us have been [and continue to be] assassinated. When will the monsters who proliferate violence be taken to task for their foul deeds, eh. [rhetorical]

  2. … and yet a ‘liberal’ Bill Maher “… thinks assassination is a great idea.”

  3. I just hope that they can plant little seeds before someone takes them away. Let me tell how how they can - with my daughter. I never noticed it before. It has been there for a while. This picture of Martin Luther King Jr on our fridge door. I hardly look at the fridge door, but there it was. Amongst all the fridge magnets and numbers and pictures of the kids. But what made me stop was that the picture was of a white Martin Luther King Jr. My young daughter made this great man white. And I couldn’t be prouder. I think he would be proud. I know she will continue to live his dream. http://angryafrican.net/2008/03/16/martin-luther-king-jr-is-white/

  4. This man looks better every day. Wouldn’t it be great if we could change the name of the J. Edgar Hoover Building (FBI HQs) to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Building? That would be coolness on steroids.
