It became headline news when President Bush admitted that he knew his top national security advisers discussed and approved specific details of torture. I am not surprised. What is infinitely more noteworthy to me is that much of Congress knew as well. They haven’t pressed the issue for years; for fear that their own involvement with this illegal activity might be exposed.
The CIA gave key lawmakers about 30 private briefings of their interrogation program since at least 2002, when Nancy Pelosi herself was briefed. Like all other lawmakers, Pelosi did not object to the harsh methods, which included waterboarding. In truth, Democratic members of Congress were well-informed and supportive of the use of torture.
Condi not only deserves to be fired but put on trial, and so I’m conflicted about whether to support this petition. We know that Dems will not pursue legal action, nor call for the resignation of their own guilty party members involved. This is about scoring political points by singling out one person, not about seeking justice against an entire system.
Dick Cheney was also in these meetings with Condi to sign off on torture techniques. Ask a Democratic lawmaker why Dems aren’t also supporting one of the many impeachment resolutions against Cheney and you’ll be told quite bluntly that they will not defend the constitution at a time when it’s politically inconvenient to do so. Yes I want Condi gone, but she must take Cheney, Pelosi, and every lawmaker we have yet to find out about with her.

The most despicable cabal on earth. America must be proud. It has been screwing the rest of the world for decades, guess it’s time to take it in the end, at home.
