Bush publicly disowned the National Intelligence Estimate which concluded that Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, former Bush-appointed US ambassador to the UN John Bolton has stated that the US must attack Iran to “win” in Iraq, there has been a naval build-up in the Persian Gulf along with an increased US troop presence along the Iranian border, and Admiral William Joseph Fallon was forced to resign for opposing war with Iran ever since his confirmation hearing in 2007.

These are just a handful of examples which suggest that war with Iran is not just an “option” to the Bush administration, but a desired goal. We have saber-rattling followed by complete denial. Talk about sending mixed signals. At least Israel is consistent with their message that they want to wipe Iran off the map.

  1. You seem a little confused. It was the Iranian President who called for the destruction of Israel, demanding that it be “Wiped Off The Map”. Israel have never called for the destruction of Iran.

  2. @Harold Baker

Actually Harold, it’s you and the western corporate media who are confused. President Ahmadinejad called for an end to the “Zionist regime”, not Israel. He pointed out that the regime is “illegitimate” with “no legal basis for its existence”, which is true. His speech was purposefully mistranslated into something anti-Semitic by the US and Israel.

Israel, on the other hand, has threatened to use nuclear weapons against Iran on several occasions. The Jewish State has over 200 nuclear weapons and has been running flight drills for such a nuclear strike against the Persians. Hillary Clinton, whose Mid-East foreign policy is dictated by AIPAC, has also promised to “totally obliterate” Iran.
