The Democrats really are better than the Republicans on issues of civil liberty and anyone who disagrees with that statement will be locked up in a warehouse.
Inside a warehouse on the northeast side of Denver are dozens of chain link cages topped with rolls of barbed wire. A sign on the wall reads “Warning! Electric stun devices used in this facility”. This is where masses of protesters will be sent during the Democratic National Convention when (not if) mass arrests take place.
The warehouse has already been dubbed “Gitmo on the Platte” by those planning to express their freedom of speech during the convention. Upon seeing video from inside the warehouse, Zoe Williams of Code Pink described the facility as being, “very bare bones and very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp.” Captain Frank Gale of the Denver Sheriff’s Department would not discuss what he described as his “game plan”, and said that the facility was supposed to be a secret.
The ACLU has raised questions about how prisoners will be able to access food, water, bathrooms, telephones, medical care, and where they can meet with attorneys. None of these basic necessities seem to have been taken into consideration in the bare warehouse that people will be herded into. Mayor John Hickenlooper says there will be a community outreach program to explain the facility’s function.

Manila-
I lovya man, but…can you ever imagine supporting anything that has over 4% of the popular vote?

This sounds like a huge deal that nobody knows anything about. Maybe it doesn’t reach the level of “Gitmo-like” but it sure feeds into the general impression that we’re becoming a police state, no matter what the party. Do you have any source material/info that could explain why such a place was even built or planned to be used? Are they expecting overload at the local jails? What ever happened to local law enforcement? With all the attention on law & order, why do they need these extra cages?

Manila,
Where are the diatribes, where is the outrage? Why no commentary on this piece, only the report itself? If this was planned for the Republican Convention you would be on it like flies on shat denouncing BUSHCO thuggery and generally railing against anything republican in nature.

Jack, are you suggesting that I only express outrage at “BUSHCO thuggery” and give Democrats a free pass? I like to think we do a pretty damn good job of criticizing both wings of the business party here.
For this particular piece, I didn’t think a diatribe was necessary. Anyone reading this story would be outraged with or without a rant by me. The plain and simple truth is shocking enough. This is one of those instances in which I didn’t have any additional insight into the story and felt it was better to step off my soapbox and let the readers have a turn expressing their anger in the comments section. So please, feel free to post a diatribe of your own.
I also happen to be one of the many people who’ll actually be protesting at the DNC Jack, so I don’t think you should call my outrage into question when I personally run the risk of becoming one of the people who will be beaten and thrown into this warehouse myself. If you think I only rail “against anything republican in nature” on this blog then I suggest you read more of it.
I guess you got a diatribe out of me after all.

Manila,
I’m glad to see some fair and balanced indignation. I too would be PO’d if the GOP pulled this kind of police state, jack-booted thuggery. I think we finally see eye-to-eye on a subject. There is a first for everything.
P.S. Get everything on tape.
