Gaza’s international airport was opened in 1998 by Hillary Clinton and closed in 2001 due to destructive Israeli campaigns she also endorsed. The radar station and control tower were destroyed by the IDF in 2001 after the al-Aqsa Intifada, and bulldozers cut the runway in half in 2002.
Now Clinton is back in the region as Secretary of State but a visit to Gaza is not on her schedule. Photo opportunities with fellow war criminals are obviously far more important than acknowledging the existence of their mutual victims.
