There Will Be Bud

May 25th, 2008 by Manila Ryce

Despite being based off such a stupid pun, the There Will Be Bud video from Brain Spray Media is actually a pretty brilliant parody. Judging from the level of production that went into this thing I think it’s safe to say this is the greatest project a group of potheads has ever completed. Well, right behind the pyramids. That’s right, the aliens who made the pyramids loved reefer.

The Real News - Obama and Reverend Wright

March 20th, 2008 by Manila Ryce

The Real News talks to Davey D, a Hip-Hop historian, journalist, community activist, and one of the hosts of Hard Knock Radio on KPFA in San Francisco and other Pacifica stations.

God bless The Real News for being the only media source with the integrity to look at both the unfair media coverage of Reverend Wright’s comments and their following infatuation with Obama’s “race speech,” which denounced Wright’s truthfulness. While Obama’s speech has been praised as a flawless handjob for the corporate media pundits, the line regarding American foreign policy, which I saw as unforgivably disturbing and ignorant on Tuesday, is actually brought up as something of significance by The Real News. I have yet to see any other news source give mention to that line.

So now that Obama’s made amends with everyone who was scared shitless that an angry black man like Wright would be associated with their harmless black candidate, do you think there’s any chance Obama will now make amends with the Muslim community for blaming violence in the Middle East on Islam rather than the human rights violations and dictatorial rule we’ve supported there for decades? It’s not what you say anymore, it’s how you say it. The truth is unacceptable when it challenges the capitalist power structure, but lies are to be praised when they oppress a group with little political power. That’s why Watergate is so important to Americans while Cointelpro is forgotten history. Obama’s just another puppet with a new face and white liberals can’t get enough.

Better Know a Lobby – The Drug Lobby

March 14th, 2008 by Manila Ryce

Drug trafficking and enforcement is big business for the government, as is the prison industrial complex it feeds. Like all wars in recent history, the “war on drugs” is merely another way to oppress the masses while accelerating wealth upwards to the few who benefit from its continuation.

New Vending Machines Take Plastic, but Give Nickels and Dimes

January 31st, 2008 by Manila Ryce

Hey rest of the country, jealous much? This is quite brilliant. Pot vending machines will create a demand for the munchies. Put a normal vending machine next to one that dispenses pot and people won’t have a reason to go home.

Did You Know? Chavez and US Celebrities Have Coke Parties!

January 25th, 2008 by Manila Ryce

It is widely thought that Chavez was referring to unprocessed coca leaves (which you chew), and not coca paste (which you smoke). Coca leaves have been used in South America for centuries to make tea with a stimulant effect similar to strong coffee. However, the puritanical hysteria towards anything strange and indigenous was too much for the uneducated dopes at Faux News to resist. They used their ignorance of both the plant and socialism to accuse Chavez of being a cokehead “dictator”. Then they did something shocking, even for the fucks at Faux: They accused Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Naomi Campbell, Oliver Stone, and Kevin Spacey of being coke addicts as well for their political beliefs. That’s some mighty fine reporting there.

CIA Jet Carrying 4 Tons of Coke Also Made Trips to Gitmo

December 27th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

Other Western countries like Great Britain are quite honest about their history of drug trading, but we still engage in self-censorship, even amongst the Left, when it comes to acknowledging that similar activities have been carried out by the CIA in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and Latin America during the Iran-Contra Affair. Perhaps the reason why the CIA’s well-documented role in the global drug trade is never really acknowledged is because it never really ended.

Remember this story? The video below is an update into the specifics:

A Gulfstream II jet that crash landed in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula in late September bearing a load of nearly four tons of cocaine. This particular Gulfstream II (tail number N987SA), was used between 2003 and 2005 by the CIA for at least three trips between the U.S. east coast and Guantanamo Bay — home to the infamous “terrorist” prison camp — according to a number of press reports.

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Gary Webb uncovered that the CIA was responsible for distributing cocaine into poor Los Angeles neighborhoods. Shortly after Webb exposed the CIA, he was killed (the official story is that he committed suicide by shooting himself twice in the head).

War is profitable, and the so-called “War on Drugs” is no different. Government agencies make money in every part of the process: from sale, to seizure, to incarceration. America has 25% of the world’s incarcerated population, and a higher percentage of its black population in prison than South Africa did at the height of apartheid.

Mitt Romney on Medicinal Marijuana

What an ass. That’s all I have to say.
