Rachel Maddow - Hillary is Using Race to Divide and Lying About War Vote

February 1st, 2008 by Manila Ryce

Everyone knows that there is racial tension in LA between Blacks and Latinos. Both traditionally lower-class groups have been pitted against each other to fight over whatever scraps the wealthy decide to throw down to them. As economic conditions worsen, tensions between these scapegoat groups increases.

Not only does Hillary Clinton represent the elites which have disenfranchised both Blacks and Latinos, but she and her husband have been unapologetically using this “divide and conquer” strategy to gain the Latino vote. This kind of disgusting strategy appeals to the worst in people.

Rachel also states that she’s “personally offended” by Hillary lying about her Iraq War vote in the video below. Rather than apologize to the million plus people that have died as a result of her vote, Hillary would rather claim that she was dumb enough to be tricked by George W Bush.

It’s beyond infuriating that a populace which has been craving real change for 8 years should now only have the choice between pro-war candidates in the next election. If that’s not enough of a clue that our presidents are picked for us, I don’t know what is. Unfortunately, it’s people like Olbermann that are to blame for remaining silent when it was clear that the corporation he works for, along with others, were creating this Obama vs Hillary scenario from the start.

Prison Break: Palestinians Escape the Gaza Seige

January 23rd, 2008 by Manila Ryce

Sadly, we know Israel won’t allow such freedom to exist for long, so enjoy this scene while you can. It’s tantamount to witnessing the Berlin Wall coming down. I defy you to watch this video and not smile.

Gazans have flooded into Egypt on the sixth day of the illegal Israeli blockade through holes blown by at least 15 explosions along the border wall separating occupied Gaza and Egypt. Egyptian security forces eventually closed the holes, but allowed two to stay open for humanitarian reasons. The forces did not take any action over the entry of Palestinians.

The previous day, dozens of Hamas protesters had stormed the Rafah crossing, demanding that the terminal be opened to ease the blockade imposed on the territory by Israel.

Several protesters were wounded as Egyptian police opened fire in the air and used batons and water cannons to push them back.

Palestinians had complained that Gaza was under siege from both Israel and neighbouring Arabs.

Um Ahmad, a Palestinian woman demonstrating at the Rafah crossing, told Al Jazeera: “The Arabs should be united with us and not against us.

“This is an appeal to all the Arabs. They should help us lift the blockade, they should stand with us.”

Today, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that Egyptian troops were now ordered to allow Palestinians to cross into Egypt because they were starving. “I told them to let them come in and eat and buy food and then return them later as long as they were not carrying weapons,” he said. Hamas has told Gazans crossing over to respect the Egyptian security forces, get what they need, and return to Gaza. All shops in the Egyptian side of Rafah were open to enable Palestinians to stock up on the basic necessities.

Father Creedon on Immigration

November 28th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

Father Gerry Creedon is a Catholic priest and advocate for immigration reform in Northern Virginia. These clips are from the 9500 Liberty video, “Illegals, God and Gospel.” In the first one, Father Creedon discusses the relationship between the law and The Church, which is often a touchy subject in America with regards to the separation of church and state. In the second, he replies to Greg Letiecq’s amateur interpretation of the Bible. Letiecq is leading an anti-immigration grassroots movement.

Family Guy – Peter’s Xenophobia and Quest for Legality

November 24th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

Since we haven’t had any new Colbert or Daily Show clips to post, like we normally do, I’ve decided to post three additional clips in this post from last week’s Family Guy episode. The first clip is before Peter discovers he’s an “illegal Mexican immigrant”. He gets his amigos together to patrol the border. The last two clips come after the revelation, in which he tries to pass his INS test and find a job without proper documentation. Is Peter a Mexi-can or a Mexi-can’t? Find out below the fold.

An In-Depth Look at Blackwater

September 18th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

As you’ve probably heard by now, private security firm Blackwater USA has been banned from operating anywhere in Iraq, by the Iraqi government, following a gunfight which left 8 locals dead. CEO of American-Iraqi Solutions Groups Carter Andress said of the incident, “Our people saw a couple of cars destroyed, dead bodies, wounded people being evacuated. The U.S. military had moved in and secured the area. It was not a good scene.”

It should be noted that the company has also been involved in many firefights before. Private military companies like Blackwater lack accountability, but the Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman said, “The investigation is ongoing, and all those responsible for Sunday’s killing will be referred to Iraqi justice.”

In California, Blackwater’s plan for a huge training facility along the US/Mexico border has been raising concerns with local residents, who fear that the company will be hired by the government for border patrol to do the dirty work agents can not.

The Daily Show – Presidential Debates del Burro

September 13th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

Well, it’s been confirmed. Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich lays the pipe well. At the first bilingual presidential debate on Univision, the candidates pandered to their Latino audience on issues as diverse as immigration, illegal immigration, and inmigración. Kucinich may have had the best policies all around, but his real appeal to voters was to be found in the hotness of his wife. It’s really no surprise. As any avid viewer of Latin television knows, hot chicks are the key ingredient to good programming.

Still, a few other candidates may have outdone Kucinich’s hot wife rule, and Richardson’s pledge to be a Mexi-can and not a Mexi-can’t. Stewart notes that Dodd tried a different angle by promising the audience he was full of delicious candy. Unfortunately, he was promptly beaten by children with sticks afterwards. Hillary’s campaign says she appeared in a tortilla at the concession stand, but sources say it also may have been a bloated Annette Bening. And finally, Mike Gravel was leaning like a cholo during the entire debate, but confirmed later that that he was just having a stroke.

Switzerland Wants to Deport Darkies “For Better Security”

September 3rd, 2007 by Manila Ryce

The Swiss People’s Party, Switzerland’s biggest political party, has put forth a proposal to deport entire families if one child is convicted of drug offenses, fraud, or a violent crime. Ronnie Bernheim of the Swiss Foundation against Racism and Anti-Semitism says the idea is similar to the Nazi practice of “Sippenhaft,” where relatives of criminals were held responsible and punished equally. As we know all too well, you can’t be neutral on a moving train and Switzerland’s ticket was paid for with Nazi gold (I kid, I kid).

What really drives the message home is the campaign poster (above) which exploits the rampant xenophobia in Switzerland by depicting three white sheep kicking a black sheep out of the country. This racism is poorly hidden under a common colloquialism regarding an outcast or “black sheep” who is shunned by the herd. President of the People’s Party Ueli Maurer said, “As soon as the first 10 families and their children have been expelled from the country, then things will get better at a stroke.” The party is seeking 100,000 signatures to force a referendum on the issue. Much like the BNP and KKK, the Swiss People’s Party (SVP) insists they are not racist.

So far, there has been little backlash against the posters, and observers say it may even help the party in the October national elections. Another racist anti-immigration ad, put out by the party in 2004, showed black hands reaching into a pot full of Swiss passports. It too was popular amongst the majority of Swiss voters. Earlier this year, a nationwide initiative was also proposed by the party to ban minarets. The ban is not only unconstitutional, but directly aimed at Muslims, as no such restrictions are placed on Christian churches or Jewish temples. If this new proposal becomes law, it’s inevitable that trumped up charges will be made against immigrants in order to “cleanse” the country of the black sheep some people think don’t belong in Europe.

Israel Turns Away Sudanese Refugees Fleeing Genocide

August 20th, 2007 by Manila Ryce

Israel, a nation founded by Zionists after Nazi persecution was used to justify its creation, has stated that it will turn away refugees fleeing the genocide in Darfur. David Baker, an Israeli government spokesman said anyone entering illegally from Egypt will be returned to Egypt, and that only 500 refugees will be allowed to stay for humanitarian reasons. “The policy of returning back anyone who enters Israel illegally will pertain to everyone, including those from Darfur,” Baker said.

Israel’s typical hypocritical stance has sparked debate within the country. Eytan Schwartz, an advocate for Darfur refugees in Israel, said; “The state of Israel has to show compassion for refugees after the Jewish people was subject to persecution throughout its history.”

Egypt has stepped up efforts to prevent illegal migrants crossing its border into Israel, a source of tension between the two countries. Egyptian police shot at a group of African migrants trying to sneak into Israel in July, killing one woman and wounding four, including a child.

“We can blame them [the Sudanese refugees] but we should condemn the governments. Oppression and injustice made those people look for salvation even if it was in Israel,” Gamal Eid, head of Egypt’s Arabic Network for Human Rights Information, said.

Escaping persecution and injustice, more than 2,000 illegal migrants from Africa have entered Israel from Egypt over the past year. Israel has already handed over 48 Sudanese to Egyptian authorities. The Jewish state has also jailed dozens of refugees from Sudan simply because the state identifies the Sudanese as enemy nationals. 2.5 million people have been driven from their homes in Darfur since the conflict began.
